  • The official name of the Organization is "The National Organization for Asian Bodywork Therapies" (NOABT) or "The National Organization for Bodywork Therapies of Asia" (NOBTA). The name is copyright proctected and can only be used by the Organization.

  • There are three categories of the NOBTA membership: Student Member, Certified Practitioner and Certified Instructor. A Student Member is a student who is studying in a massage or bodywork school or an apprentice in a medical clinic or private institution or classes under the instruction of an NOBTA recognized instructor or tutor. A Certified Practitioner shall have completed at least 500 hours of Asian Bodywork / Massage Therapy training or have 10 years of bodywork or massage experience. Certified Practitioner shall have all privileges of membership in the Organization. A Certified Instructor shall have met the requirements as set forth by the Organization and shall be entitled to all privileges of membership in the Organization.

  • Voting members of the Organization form the Board of Directors. The Board of Directors supervises the activities of the Organization, makes and modifies policies of the Organization. The Board of Directors shall abide by the bylaws of the Organization, and all the changes of the policies and bylaws shall be agreed by more than 60% of the members. The Executive Committee of the Board of Directors includes the President, Secretary, Treasurer and etc.

  • Practitioner must swear to abide by the code of ethics of this governing body. Not doing so automatically forfeits membership to the organization.

  • It is necessary to notify the National Organization of Bodywork Therapies of Asia of any change of address within 30 days of doing so. If you fail to do so you could miss important mail from this governing body. Failure to do so will result in a forfeiture of your membership.

  • For NOBTA to verify every member follows the Code of Ethics, each Practitioner must prove our governing body a receipt from a live scan vendor annually. Failure to provide the governing body with live scan may result in a cancellation of your membership.

  • It is important that members do not claim to be licensed massage therapist. This title requires a license by some states of the country. Advertising or otherwise holding yourself as a licensed massage therapist is a violation of the laws of the above mentioned States. Members of the National Organization of Bodywork Therapies of Asia are given the right to use the title as an Asian Bodyworker.

  • Being a certified practitioner does not authorize you to work in the United States. In order to work legally in the United States, you need to obtain a Work Permit or Authorization from the US government separately.
